Over the last 30+ years Beate Degen has been refining her jewelry craft. The journey initially began in the early 1980's in Central and South America when Beate was first introduced to inlaid jewelry and the use of other natural products such as bamboo, porcupine quills, and sea urchin spine. She initially learned the basics from the natives and has continued perfecting the ancient art of inlaid jewelry. It has been her sole livelihood and calling.
Her jewelry today is known throughout the Pacific Northwest for its unique one of a kind combination of hand wiring, beautiful unique beading, and most of all the intricate inlaid designs on sterling silver sheet. Her jewelry has been promoted in galleries, arts and crafts fairs, as well as locally at the Bellingham Farmer's Market. She designs earrings, necklaces, and bracelets, each unique and handcrafted. Beate acquires her beading and materials through her travels as well as sourced from high quality vendors across the globe.
She now lives in Bellingham, WA and has been an active part of the artist community for over 20 years.
